BMEYE's History
In the years to come, this group of pioneers continued to successfully develop innovative products for space agencies – NASA, CNES and ESA – and many other research institutions around the world. In 2005, the BMI core group of scientists and engineers spun-out of TNO to give birth to BMEYE, with the goal to bring this ground-breaking technology to patients. After attracting capital from world-class investors, BMEYE launched its first product – Nexfin - into the European and American markets during 2007. Since then, BMEYE has evolved into a dynamic market-driven company with the purpose or making non-invasive advanced hemodynamic monitoring, a reality in daily clinical practice.

BMEYE's history dates back to 1967, when Czech Physiologist Jan Peňáz invented the volume clamp method, which is the foundation for BMEYE's non-invasive technology. However, it was not until 1977 that the Biomedical Instrumentation (BMI) unit within TNO (Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research), started the project that led to the first ever non-invasive finger blood pressure monitor in 1984 – the Finapres®.
